The COVID-19 pandemic has forced much of the country’s workforce into telecommuting arrangements. With the need for social distancing, the ability to continue essential business functions through effective remote work arrangements is a key means for addressing the global health crisis. This talk provides an overview of academic research on telecommuting as well as best practice recommendations for those implementing and managing telecommuting programs.

Presenter Bio

Kristen Shockley received her Ph.D. in Industrial/ Organizational psychology from the University of South Florida. She is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Georgia. Her main area of research focuses on understanding the intersection of employees’ work and family lives. Her work has been published in several books and journals, such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and the Journal of Management. She currently serves as an Associate Editor at Journal of Applied Psychology and the Journal of Business and Psychology and is the Awards Chair for SIOP. She recently received an NSF Rapid Response grant to study remote work during COVID-19.
